Golden Chariot Southern Splendor tour is planned to take you on a breathtaking journey spanning over 8 days and 7 nights. The tour links some of the most fascinating, unique and exciting destinations of south India. The tour covers three states and brims over with awe-inspiring moments. The journey starts from Bangalore and traversing to the historic temple cities of Kanchipuram, Mamallapuram, Thanjavur, Triuchirapalli reaches Madurai. After enjoying the scenic beauty of the soothing and tranquil water the luxury Southern Splendor train roll on to Bangalore marking the end of the tour.

Day 1: Monday: Bangalore
Day one begins with the arrival in Bangalore. The beautiful city is dotted with a large number of tourist attractions. Check-in at the Leela Palace that plays a perfect host to you. In the evening assemble at the Bangalore Railway station for a traditional welcome. After the ceremonial welcome, our representative escorts you to the respective cabins. The train will depart to the next destination in the circuit by 22:00 hrs. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner onboard the Splendor of the South.

Day 2: Tuesday: Chennai – Mamallapuram
On the 2nd day of the tour the golden chariot marks it arrival in Chennai at 06:00 hrs. After a lavish breakfast disembark from the train to visit the attractions of Mamallapuram. Situated at a distance of 58 Kms from Chennai, Mamallapuram is famous amongst the tourist for its temples. The major temples to visit include temple of Rathas, Shore temple and the Penance of Bhagirath. Enjoy some interesting culinary delights of the place for lunch followed by a sightseeing tour to Chennai. The major tourist attractions of Chennai include the Kapaleeshwarar Temple, St. Mary's Church, Fort St. George, the National Art Gallery and Museum etc. Return to train to enjoy a lavish dinner served aboard and a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 3: Wednesday: Pondicherry
Early morning train chugs towards Pondicherry station marking its arrival right at the scheduled time of 08:00hrs. After breakfast, get down exploring this teensy destination. Once a French colony, the place is scattered with cobbled streets and the vast French mansions all around. Visit the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and the Auroville the major tourist attractions of Pondicherry. Later return to the train and the train roll on to the next destination in the circuit.

Day 4: Thursday: Tiruchirapalli – Thanjavur
After bidding adieu, the luxury train moves on to Tiruchirapalli. Disembark from the train to visit the Rock Fort temple, commissioned by Nayaks of Madurai on a hillock towering the city. The fort has three levels with the middle one called Mathrubhuteshwar Shrine devoted to Lord Shiva and the Ucchi Pillayar Koil dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Return to the train and the train roll on to Thanjavur, the city known for its temples and its paintings. The few topmost attractions of the Thanjavur include Brihadeshwara temple, Alangudi temple, Schwartz Church and the Chandra Bagawan temple.
Enjoy dinner and overnight onboard train.

Day 5: Friday: Madurai
On the Friday morning open your eyes in Madurai, a modern Indian city still basking in the glory of the yesteryears. Enjoy a lavish breakfast followed by a sightseeing tour of Madurai. Later enjoy excursion to Madurai temple featuring a magnificent hall with thousands of pillars. Also visit Thiruparangundram temple and the Nayak Palace. Now the train departs for Thiruvanantapuram.

Day 6: Saturday: Thiruvananthapuram – Poovar
Next morning the sojourn to explore the enchanting lands of kerala as the train reaches Thiruvananthapuram. Set off to explore the major tourist attraction of the Thiruvananthapuram including the Napier Museum, Padamanabhaswamy temple and the Sri Chitra Art Gallery. The train trails to the next destination in the itinerary Poovar Island around lunch time. Explore the beautiful beaches enjoying some leisurely moments and solitude to refresh your mind completely. Enjoy gala dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at train.

Day 7: Sunday: Backwaters – Kochi
On the 7th day feel splendid reaching the backwater region of Kerala right at the scheduled time of 09:00 hrs. Take the delight in visiting the mesmerizing and breathtaking surroundings of the backwaters. Enjoy a gala lunch at Kumarakom after which you proceed towards Kochi. The Chinese fishing nets are distinctively unique to Kochi. The major tourist attractions to visit in Kochi include Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, St. Francis Church and the Chinese Fishing Nets. At the end enjoy a Kathakali dance performance by trained artist. Return to the train for leisurely dinner before the train roll on to Bangalore marking the end of the journey.

Day 8: Monday: Bangalore
In the morning on arriving the Bangalore railway station the circuit journey comes to its end. Before deboarding the train you will be served with lip-smacking breakfast. After bidding adieu to your fellow passengers, head towards the next destination.
